Description
Fire Extinguisher Wet Chemical is a highly specialized fire suppression unit engineered specifically for tackling high-temperature Class F fires, which involve burning cooking oils and fats (such as vegetable oils, animal fats, and deep-fat fryer contents). While effective on Class A fires, its primary design and chemical action target these specific kitchen hazards.
Features:
Extinguishing Agent: Wet Chemical solution, typically composed of potassium salts (like potassium acetate, carbonate, or citrate). This agent is water-based and discharged as a fine, misty spray.
Class F (Fats/Oils): The chemical reacts with the burning oil/fat in a process called saponification. This reaction converts the burning grease into a thick, soapy, non-combustible foam or “blanket.”
Dual Action: This blanket smothers the fire, cutting off the oxygen supply, and allows the cooling water content to reduce the temperature of the oil below its ignition point, effectively preventing re-ignition
Class A: Also effective on ordinary solid combustibles due to the solution’s cooling effect.
Discharge Mechanism (Misty Spray): The agent is delivered via a specialized nozzle that creates a gentle, misty spray. This is crucial to prevent the forceful scattering or splashing of the burning hot oil, which could spread.
