Description
Spine Board (also known as a Long Backboard) is a rigid, flat device used primarily in pre-hospital emergency care to safely immobilize and transport a patient with a suspected spinal or serious limb injury. Its core function is to maintain the patient’s spine in a straight, neutral alignment, preventing any movement—especially in the neck (cervical) and back (thoracic/lumbar) regions—that could lead to further, potentially permanent, damage to the spinal cord. It is typically used in conjunction. It is typically used in conjunctionwith a Cervical Collar and a Head Immobilizer to achieve complete spinal motion restriction.
Features:
- Rigid Immobilization: Provides a flat, rigid surface to restrict movement and prevent secondary spinal cord injury.
- Durable Material: Made of high-strength plastic (HDPE) that is non-absorbent, easy to clean, and long-lasting.
- Hand Holes: Features multiple grip points along the sides for safe lifting and carrying by multiple rescuers.
- X-Ray/CT Translucent: Allows medical imaging to be performed without having to move the patient off the board.
- Strap Compatibility: Includes integrated slots for securely attaching strapping systems (like spider straps) and head immobilizers.
- Buoyancy: Designed to float, making it suitable and safe for water rescue and retrieval.
- Adaptability to Diverse Terrains:. The numerous handholds around the perimeter allow rescuers to lift and carry the patient securely across uneven surfaces, crowded areas, narrow alleys, or difficult terrain often encountered in urban and rural Pakistan.
